By Megan Mason and Karen Mourcy

Are you a newly approved sponsor and need information on how to maintain your sponsorship? We’ve got you covered with our quick guide on how to complete your annual renewal application.  Illustration of hand clicking computer screen to renew an application

One month before the renewal is due, the main contact of the organization will receive an email with a direct link to the renewal application. If the renewal has not been submitted, a reminder email will be sent to the main contact around the 15th of the month. These emails will come from cpe@nasba.org. Please add this email address (cpe@nasba.org) as an accepted contact in your corporate email policy or personal email account, as subsequent emails regarding your account will be sent from this email address.

The renewal application is an online self-certification form with a series of ‘Yes/No’ questions directly related to your continued compliance with the Statement on Standards for Continuing Professional Education (Standards). Within the renewal application, you will be asked to attach a program list and a certificate. The program list should include all programs in which you were awarded CPE credits with your NASBA sponsor ID. The certificate should be a copy from one of those programs.

The renewal fees are determined by the total number of programs offered by the organization for the following approved instructional delivery methods: Group Live, Group Internet Based, QAS™ Self Study and Blended Learning.  All renewal fees can be found on our website by visiting the Annual Renewal page.  If your organization is approved for Nano Learning, be sure to visit the Renewal page to understand more about Nano Learning’s fee structure.

Renewal fees can be paid by check or with a credit card. If your renewal application is not submitted by the first day of the renewal month, your organization will be assessed a 50% late fee that will automatically be included in the fee you pay when you submit the renewal form. On the second day of the renewal month, the main and supervisory contacts will receive an email notifying them that they are being assessed a late fee.

If you need to pay by check or require an invoice for payment, you may submit your application without payment and an invoice will be sent to the main contact. Sponsors that submit their renewal application by the first day of the renewal month will receive a grace period of 14 days for receipt of check or credit card payment by the National Registry. The renewal application and all fees must be received by the last day of the renewal month to remain active on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors.

If there is a change of contact to the main contact, please submit a Change of Contact form before submitting the renewal application. The Change of Contact form can be found on the homepage of the National Registry website. Sponsors can change the supervisory contact within the renewal application.

Need to add a new delivery method? Submit an interest form showing what new delivery methods you want to add, and you will receive an email with a link to the application. Sponsors cannot apply or add a new delivery method within the renewal application.

Top things to keep in mind when completing your renewal application:

  • Sponsors must use the link sent in the reminder emails to complete the renewal application. You cannot access your renewal application from your Registry profile page or by submitting an interest form.

  • The program list and certificate should be within the date range of your renewal year.

  • If you are submitting a change of contact for the main contact and you have not previously been a contact for your organization, the system will create a two-step verification process. Your account manager will need to verify the change and approve your request before you can submit your renewal application.

  • If you only held one event for the year, you will still be required to submit a program list. Do not send a copy of your agenda or promotional materials. Need a copy of the program list?  You can always find a copy by visiting the template page.

  • Are you approved for both Group Live and Group Internet Based, and live-streamed your group live event to virtual participants? This is adhering to Standard 23-02 and should not be indicated as Blended Learning in your application or program list.

  • Haven’t received your renewal reminders? Check your spam folder and be sure to add cpe@nasba.org as an accepted contact in your corporate email policy or personal email account, as subsequent emails regarding your account will be sent from this email address.
