Reviewer Program

The National Registry of CPE Sponsors is a program offered by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) to recognize sponsors who offer continuing professional education in accordance with the Statement on Standards for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Programs (2016) (Standards).

The National Registry of CPE Sponsors (National Registry) approves CPE providers for membership in the following instructional delivery methods:

  1. Group live: Instructor present in classroom or conference setting
  2. Group internet based: Live instructor present and able to interact with participants and program materials shared over the internet and/or participants interact over the internet
  3. QAS self study: Online or paper-based educational program without involvement of an instructor
  4. Nano learning: Tutorial program designed to permit a participant to learn a given subject in a ten-minute time frame through the use of electronic media and without interaction with a real time instructor.
  5. Blended learning: Program that offers participants learning in multiple formats or delivery methods. Activities can include lectures, discussion, guided practice, games, case studies, and simulation.

The review and approval process for membership on the National Registry involves review of submitted materials from the CPE provider such as promotional materials/course announcements to potential participants; evaluation forms; certificates of completion; and course development information such as author and reviewer biographies/experience.  The review and approval process also includes review of course materials for content and technical accuracy—this review is more rigorous for the group internet based and self study delivery methods.
