I AM COMPLETING MY REGISTRY RENEWAL APPLICATION. HOW DO I KNOW WHAT INSTRUCTIONAL DELIVERY METHODS TO CHOOSE ON THE RENEWAL APPLICATION? I AM APPROVED FOR GROUP LIVE BUT WANT TO OFFER WEBINARS IN THE FUTURE. SHOULD I CHOOSE GROUP INTERNET BASED ON THE RENEWAL APPLICATION?
The National Registry team has received questions from sponsors about adding a new instructional delivery method to Registry membership during the process of completing the membership renewal application. If your organization would like to offer CPE credits for a new instructional delivery method, you must apply to the National Registry to add an additional delivery method to your Registry membership using the Additional Delivery Method application. You may make this request at any time within the year. There is no requirement to make this request in conjunction with your annual renewal.
NASBA has found that sponsors are selecting instructional delivery methods for which they are not formally approved by NASBA while completing their annual renewal applications. Sponsors cannot interchange delivery methods (i.e., swap Group Live for Group Internet Based) based on what types of programs they plan to offer during a year. Each instructional delivery method has specific requirements in the Statement on Standards for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Programs (Standards) that must be met. Therefore, sponsors must apply to the National Registry for formal approval for each instructional delivery method.
For example, if your organization is approved for the Group Live delivery method and you would like to offer CPE credits for online training using the Group Internet Based (GIB) delivery method, you must apply for approval for the GIB delivery method. In addition to reviewing the administrative documents of a program, the Registry team must observe one of your developed GIB delivery method programs to ensure the requirements specified in the Standards have been met.
In summary, the renewal application is to renew your current, existing membership on the Registry. The Additional Delivery Method application is how a sponsor adds new delivery methods to its National Registry membership.
