University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Sponsored Programs and Research Compliance (SPaRC)

SPaRC’Ed is the Sponsored Programs and Research Administration Certification series at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Supported by the Sponsored Programs and Research Compliance (SPaRC) working group and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, SPaRC’Ed equips research administrators with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively manage sponsored projects across their full lifecycle—from proposal development to award closeout.

Designed for University of Illinois staff at all experience levels, the program offers practical training in compliance, budgeting, reporting, and award management. Participants gain a deeper understanding of research administration best practices, policies, and processes, enhancing their professional growth and advancing their ability to support faculty and researchers.

Through SPaRC’Ed, participants not only strengthen individual expertise but also bring added value to their units by improving administrative efficiency, accuracy, and service to the research community. The certification fosters a knowledgeable, collaborative, and compliant research administration environment that supports the university’s mission of innovation and discovery.
