Transition to new QAS Self Study Designation Is Now Complete

April 2015

The Statement on Standards for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Programs (Standards), revised January 2012, raised the standards for all self study providers and eliminated the differences that previously existed between the QAS and Registry self study requirements. Accordingly, NASBA initiated changes to the administration of these programs to offer one designation for self study programs: QAS Self Study. As a result, all current QAS or Registry self study sponsors, were required to complete a transition process to the QAS Self Study designation to ensure that the revised Standards have been implemented with respect to all self study program offerings.

transition Completed!

To provide you with details of the QAS transition, as of January 1, 2014, there were 123 QAS and/or Registry Self Study sponsors. Eighteen (18) of those sponsors did not complete the QAS Transition application by the deadline and were removed as of March 1, 2014. The remaining 105 sponsors represented 174 programs that required review. We are pleased to announce that, as of March 31, 2014, all QAS Transition applications were reviewed and completed.

As a reminder, the only self study delivery method offered by NASBA and the National Registry of CPE Sponsors is QAS Self Study. On certificates of completion, approved sponsors should indicate “QAS Self Study” as the delivery method and use the six-digit Registry sponsor identification number. The three-digit QAS number should no longer be used. Once approved for the QAS Self Study delivery method, NASBA will provide you with a combined QAS/Registry logo that may be used on course announcements and promotional materials.

The QAS Self Study approval is granted on an organization basis and not a course by course basis, just as the group live and group internet based delivery methods operate on the National Registry. Therefore, the QAS Self Study delivery method is subject to the same random desk audit process. Desk audits will be performed to ensure continued compliance with the Standards.

If you have a questions related to the QAS Self Study designation, please call 1-866-627-2286 and ask to speak to one of our instructional design administrators.
