Celebrating accomplishments and contributions…….

Effective January 31, 2011, Yordanos Dumez, Director of Compliance Services, resigned from NASBA.  During her 14 years with NASBA, Yordanos effectively led many aspects of continuing professional education and compliance services, including the National Registry of CPE Sponsors and the Quality Assurance Service program, CPE Tracking advances and opportunities, Accountancy Licensing Database activities and other related programs.  We congratulate Yordanos not only on outstanding service to NASBA, but also on the joy that is to be hers as she spends well-deserved time with family and other personal pursuits.

Acknowledging promotions and new ideas…..

On January 14, 2011, the NASBA Board of Directors announced that Ken Bishop will become President and CEO of NASBA, effective January 1, 2012, following the retirement of current President and CEO, David Costello.  With Mr. Bishop’s guidance, NASBA has made significant strides in increasing the ability of CPAs to practice throughout the U.S. without the need to be licensed separately in each state.  He has also been instrumental in the development of an international Uniform CPA Examination delivery model.  We look to the future with enthusiasm under Mr. Bishop’s leadership and his rich experience in all aspects of the CPA Examination process, accounting regulation, business operations and professional relationships.

While the New Year beckons us with many promises, don’t forget to give the old year its due.  Throughout 2009-2010, state boards and NASBA have been gaining momentum.  We have been constant, positively involved, proactive in style and timely in response to emerging issues.

In 2011, we plan to “Capitalize on Momentum to Create Change,” which is the theme of the CPE Conference in San Diego, CA, occurring March 7-9.  NASBA is positioning CPE Sponsors, NASBA and the state boards to further succeed in the development, presentation, measurement and reporting of CPE.  The 2011 CPE Conference will provide a valuable opportunity for participants to share thoughts and ideas on the AICPA/NASBA Statement on Standards for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Programs (Standards).  Come and be a vehicle of change and let your voice be heard.  Register to attend the 2011 CPE Conference today!
