This course provides continuing professional education for tax professionals to enhance knowledge of tax treatment of issues commonly associated with clients who have property foreclosed or repossessed. Subject matter includes tax reporting income from cancellation of debt, exceptions to taxation of income from the cancellation of debt, 1099-series forms, and effect on tax attributes of debt cancellation.
