Federal Fiduciary Income Tax Workshop

This is an 8.0 credit hour live lecture presentation. this course begins with a discussion on the basic concepts and issues involving income taxation of estates, including commencement and duration of estates, accounting methods, taxable years, making estimated payments, filing returns and changes contained in the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. This is followed by the basic concepts and issues involving the taxation of trusts, including the commencement and duration of trusts, the importance of grantor trusts in income tax planning, taxable years, determining tax periods, making estimated payments, and filing returns. The first half of the course closes with a review of fundamental fiduciary tax accounting concepts for trust income, distributable net income, and taxable income. The program moves to the income reportable by fiduciaries, including interest and dividend income, business income, capital gains/losses, rents, royalties, farm, and ordinary income. Deductions available to fiduciaries are examined followed by tax calculations, credits, payment, and special rules, special issues and situations. The course concludes with sample problems for Form 1041 preparation.
